Stephanie Shackelford has been enjoying stories all her life. When young, she would beg friends of her parents to tell her stories. When she learned to read, she began a lifelong pursuit to read all the interesting stories out there. When she discovered the Bible and Christianity, she added a new Storyteller to her list of favorites (and these were the best kind. True!) And through it all, she has been creating her own stories, some of which she hopes to publish soon.
In all that reading (and watching and listening), she has discovered stories she liked and others she hated. Much of that is subjective personal taste and can’t really be quantified or explained. But not all. Some stories base their themes on premises that directly violate or challenge her perception of Truth. Or maybe the characters act in ways she doesn’tt feel comfortable reading. Some stories even draw her away from the God she loves and the beauty and joy of the world He created.
Knowing she couldn’t be the only one who wanted to revel in the imaginations God gave to so many good authors while still living out the admonition of Philippians 4:8*, she decided to start this blog. Here she will review and give her opinions of many of the books (and some movies) she enjoys (or not). She’ll compare them to what she knows of Biblical Truth and give her impression of how they illustrate that truth (or not). Because her interest is in the fantasy spectrum of entertainment, most reviews will be in that genre, but anything she reads or watches is fair game.
